The Adoption Process

If you have decided a greyhound is right for you, please fill out our ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION below.  Please read online application instructions carefully.  Check for accuracy and submit electronically.

 

A representative of Bluegrass Greyhound Adoption will contact you within one week of the day we receive your application. 


If your application is approved, there will be a $50 non-refundable application fee and a home visit.  On the day of adoption, an additional $275 will be due.  The total cost of adoption is $325 which covers full medical vetting and transportation of the dog.


A successful adoption depends on selecting the right dog for your household and a good understanding of the dog's needs and care requirements.  Please help us with this process by answering the following questions fully & completely. THANK YOU!

Check out what it means to Foster a retired racer before adopting.  It's a way to support our important work and experience the magic of sharing life with a greyhound.

 Foster families are given preference if they wish to adopt their foster, provided they let us know prior to any home visit for that dog.
